How to Get an Amazon Associates Affiliate Account When Your State Has Been Banned

One of the best affiliate programs around that you can be a part of is the Amazon.com affiliate program. If you are familiar with this program you know it only offers a 24 hour cookie, which stinks, but because the reach of Amazon.com is so far you can get a good number of sales even with this short cookie time. In my best days as a member of the Amazon affiliate program (which was right when the first Kindle was released and you could earn $35 per each Kindle sold) I was pulling in very high four figures/low five figures per month with the Amazon affiliate program.
So now a bunch of states have decided to screw affiliates by telling retailers that they will charge them tax if they operate in their state, California, New York, Connecticut, Illinois are a few of the states who have done this. The result is that if you were a member of the Amazon.com affiliate program you would have received an email from Amazon telling you that they would be closing your affiliate account. If you were making good money through Amazon’s affiliate program, or if you want to get started with it you need to get an account, but if you put your mailing address as being within a state that Amazon has banned from their affiliate program they will not allow you in. And if you put a fake mailing address within another state you won’t get the verification letter they send in the mail that has a code that you need to verify in order to activate your account. So what can you do?
If you happen to know someone who lives in another state that Amazon allows to be a part of the affiliate program then you can use their address and ask them to do you a favor and open the verification letter when it comes. But if you don’t happen to know someone you can rent a mailbox in another state. There are multiple sites that you can do this through, MailLinkPlus.com is one and it costs $10 per month which is nothing if you are going to rake in the affiliate commissions. I have not used MailLinkPlus so I’m not recommending them or saying I’ve done business with them, they are just an example site I found through Google.
So if you’ve been down and out because you could no longer be a part of the Amazon affiliate program why don’t you jump back up and rent a mailbox and get back in the game!
