Earlier, we introduced you to the world of selling your photographs online. The idea is that you will upload your photo to what is called a microstock site and accept payment in exchange for licensing out your photographs. In this article we will go over a few places where you can do that.

SmugMug

SmugMug is nice because you are able to create a good looking portfolio which will help advertise your work. They have a large selection of templates that you can use to create a unique look which can fit your style of photography. The downside is that you have to purchase a yearly or monthly membership. The yearly membership runs at $40 per year and gives you the ability to sell your paragraphs through the site. They also offer upgrades for more serious photographers will allow them to add watermarks and set their own prices for each photograph.

Instaproofs

Instaproofs will allow you to set up galleries of your photographs. This is great if you take a lot of pictures. You can group them into calories and split them into themes and sell them as a package or use a specific gallery to target particular niches. Another good thing about this site is that you do not have to pay a monthly fee. Instead, Instaproofs will take off between 8-15% of each sale. This is good for new photographers because you are not risking any of your own money. You only have to pay a commission if you sell a photograph.

PhotoBox

PhotoBox is another site that allows the concentration of galleries. What sets PhotoBox apart is its product integration. People can order mousepads, posters, magnets and more with your images from the site. This is helpful since it creates more opportunities to sell your photographs. PhotoBox takes a 10% commission on each sale and requires no membership fee.

PicsCliq

PicsCliq focuses on events. They make it easy to promote your images through social media and encourage their photographers to take theme based pictures that would be good at events like weddings and social events. PicsCliq takes a commission which varies based on the size of the sale.

Zazzle

Zazzle is another site that is similar to PhotoBox. Zazzle will allow customers to order images on T-shirts, cards, calendars, posters, mugs and more. To sell on Zazzle, you will have to set up a free and easy to create an online store which contains your work.

CafePress

CafePress is another site that is similar to Zazzle and PhotoBox. CafePress charges $5 per month but does not take a commission off the top.

As you see, there are many places you can sell your photographs. We went over six of them but that does not nearly begin to scratch the surface. If you have a collection of photographs, group them together in themes and add them to some of the sites. I recommend adding them to the commission only sites that you do not risk losing any money if your photographs do not sell.
